GTA Online Weekly Update: May 14 — Best Bonuses and Discounts

GTA Online’s May 14–27 rotation is built around racing, car culture, and vehicle-focused businesses. The two-week Motor Madness event mixes high reward multipliers with free access to LS Car Meet membership, large upgrade discounts, cheaper properties, and a long list of discounted vehicles.

The useful way to approach the event is not to buy everything with a sale tag. Different parts of the rotation suit different goals. Players who want GTA$ have a clear first-week target, anyone working on LS Car Meet progression gets a much stronger second week, and existing Salvage Yard or Auto Shop owners can use bonuses tied to businesses they already operate.

May 14–20: Land Races are the headline money activity

During the first week, Land Races pay 4X GTA$ and RP. That is the strongest general activity multiplier in this section of the event and the obvious place to start if racing already fits your play style.

If you do not own a Salvage Yard, treat the bonus and the property purchase as separate decisions. A 40% property discount lowers the entry cost, but a business is still a better purchase when you expect to keep using it after the event ends.

May 21–27: LS Car Meet progression becomes the main opportunity

The second week shifts away from pure racing payouts and puts more emphasis on the LS Car Meet, where related activities award 5X Reputation. That multiplier matters most to players who still have progression rewards they want to unlock.

Five-times Reputation is excellent if Car Meet progression matters to you; if you have already unlocked what you wanted, the money-focused activities may be more useful.

Free LS Car Meet Membership is an easy claim

One of the simplest offers in the rotation is free LS Car Meet Membership during the applicable period. There is little reason to overthink this one if you have not joined yet and want access to that content.

It also pairs naturally with the second week’s 5X Reputation boost. A newer player can claim the membership first, explore the Car Meet systems, and then decide whether spending on cars, upgrades, or an Auto Shop makes sense.

50% off performance upgrades and customization

Several performance and customization options are discounted by 50%, including Benny’s conversion upgrades, Turbo Tuning, and HSW Performance Upgrades. LS Tuners racing suits and selected tire-smoke customization also receive large cuts.

Horn customization is free during the relevant rotation. It is a fun zero-cost claim, but it obviously matters less to progression than a performance upgrade you were already planning to buy.

The better purchasing rule is simple: a 50% discount is most valuable when it reduces a cost you already intended to pay. Buying an upgrade you did not want does not become a good investment just because the price is lower.

Which 40% vehicle discounts stand out?

The vehicle sale list is long. Models shown at 40% off include:

For collectors, 40% off can be a good time to fill a specific gap in the garage. For performance-focused players, the percentage alone is not enough. Compare the car with what you already own and what you actually use. The most expensive discounted vehicle is not automatically the best deal.

Salvage Yard and Auto Shop properties are 40% cheaper

Motor Madness also reduces the cost of Salvage Yard properties, their upgrades and modifications, Auto Shop properties, and Auto Shop improvements by 40%. Eclipse Blvd Garage is included among the property offers as well.

A Salvage Yard gets extra short-term value in the first week because business-related payouts are boosted. An Auto Shop lines up more naturally with the second week through Robbery Contracts and the broader car-culture focus.

There is still no reason to buy both automatically. If your GTA$ balance is limited, choose the business you expect to operate regularly. Weapons: Railgun gets one of the largest discounts

If either weapon was already on your shopping list, this can be a sensible window to buy it. If it does not fit how you play, keeping the cash for a business, vehicle, or upgrade you will actually use can still be the better decision.

GTA+ members can claim a free Übermacht Sentinel GTS during this window, along with other period-specific benefits. Some activities and discounts also receive GTA+ modifiers.

The useful way to judge the subscription is to count benefits you would genuinely use. A free car has clear value if you wanted the car. A cosmetic item you would never equip should not be treated as if it were cash saved. That keeps the comparison grounded in your own play rather than the theoretical maximum value of every item in the bundle.

If your priority is GTA$: start with Land Races in the first week, use your Salvage Yard if you already own one, and add the HSW Time Trial or Simeon Contact Missions based on what you enjoy.
